Over 100 historic trail markers are displayed in downtown Birmingham and historically Black neighborhoods nearby, many of them along the 1963 Children’s March routes. These markers provide rich context for the events of the Civil Rights Movement, including biographical information about its leaders. They also spotlight lesser-known historical sites and tell the stories of Birmingham’s Black community and the everyday people whose lives were touched in some way by the movement.
These markers can be found throughout downtown Birmingham, College Hills, East Thomas, Fountain Heights, Collegeville, Smithfield, & Enon Ridge.
